How can I benefit from a marketplace for Muslim educators if I am a homeschooler?

I live outside of Canada, can I sell on MCE?

Yes! MCE is an open marketplace and we welcome Teacher from around the world. A large portion of MCE Sellers and Buyers are English speakers, so many of the resources you’ll see posted on the platform are in English, but you’re more than welcome to post resources in any language.

Before you begin selling with us, you should be sure that you’ll be able to collect your earnings. We’ll use PayPal and or Stripe to deliver your earnings, so you’ll want to set up an account and ensure those services in your country are enabled for receiving payments.

Visit Paypal and Stripe to see if your country is included in their network for receiving payments and to sign up for an account.

How much does it cost to use MCE?

Joining MCE is free! Once you sign up, you have access to browse all of the resources available — many of which are completely free for you to download.

If you’re a Seller, there is only one option for now, which is the basic Seller account. It is free to sign up. However there is a fee for processing transactions.

How do I download/buy MCE resources?

You just need a basic membership to start downloading resources on MCE! There are both free and paid resources available on MCE, and once you have an account, you can start browsing and downloading right away. All of your purchases and free downloads are available for digital access immediately after you make a purchase (the majority of resources on MCE are digital goods, though there are hard goods as well).
Once you’ve purchased a resource, it will be available to you in your account under your “My Orders” tab. Since these are digital resources, you can download them at any time, as many times as you’d like, and from any device.

How do I contact MCE for support?

Click here to contact us and open a new support ticket. Fill out the information describing your issue, and we will respond to you promptly! Please offer as many details as you can, so that we can help as quickly as possible. You’ll also find the “Contact Us” link on any MCE page, at the bottom of the page under the “Support” heading.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide phone support at this time.

Where can I find the MCE Terms and Conditions?

Where can I find the MCE Privacy Policy?

You’ll find our privacy policy by browsing over to our Privacy Policy page.

Please note that we do not give Sellers any information about Buyers who purchase digital resources from their stores. Usernames are visible to Sellers, but full names and email addresses are not disclosed.

How do I Upgrade from a Buyer to a Seller account?

  1. First, you’ll have to Sign In to your account.
  2. Go to Become a Seller tab (top left corner)
  3. Enter your information and you’re all set. You’re a Seller now!

My Account

How do I log into my Account?

If you already have an account on MCE, click the Sign In link near the top of the right hand side of the homepage. Next, simply enter your email or username and your password. Once you’ve entered in the information, click Log In.

If you can’t remember your password or username, click the links underneath the Email or Password fields, and we’ll send you an email link to reset.

I forgot my username and/or password. What do I do?

If you forget your username or password, you can go to the login page and click on “Forgot Password?” . This will trigger a reset email from MCE. If you forgot your username you can enter your email address and then you can retrieve your username from your profile.

How do I cancel my account?

Where are so sorry to see you go! For that reason we made it impossible to cancel an account (joke lol). You cannot cancel the account yourself. Only we have the ability to disable your account so please contact us here (link to contact us page) and select Cancel Account. Don’t forget to tell us why you are cancelling so that we can better assist you in the future.

How do I edit my account information like name, email, passwords and other account info?

In order to change your account information, simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account
  2. On the top right hand side you will see your username or Store name (depending on the type of account you have). Click on it.
  3. From the dropdown menu, select “Edit My Account”
  4. Enter your new information
  5. Scroll down and click “Save”

Do I need a Paypal account to buy or sell products?

You don’t need a PayPal account to buy products on MCE. You can also use a credit card.
To sell products, you need either a PayPal or a Stripe account so that we can send you your earnings. MCE payments to Sellers are made via PayPal or on Stripe.

As a seller, you’ll receive a payout of your earnings when ever you request to withdraw it. Optional expenses, such as advertising costs, are automatically deducted from your payout.
The maximum we can send via PayPal and Stripe at one time is $10,000. If you are withdrawing more than that, we will send you multiple payments.

How do I get paid?

We work with third party service providers to issue your payments to you. The providers we currently work with include:

In order to get paid, you’ll need to have an account with one of these providers, and be sure that your account is eligible and ready to receive payments. Finally, make sure that you’ve provided this information in the “Payment Options” section your MCE account information.

Thirdly, and most importantly you have to request it by submitting a withdrawal request. You can do so by accessing your Seller Information ? Withdraw ? Enter withdraw amount (note you can only withdraw as much as your balance states) ? Select payment method.
Once of your admins will process the transaction within 24 hours and viola your paid!

The maximum we can send via PayPal and Stripe at one time is $10,000. If you are withdrawing more than that, we will send you multiple payments.

What can I do if I cant open a Paypal or Strip Account?

You will need to find a way to make one of these two services work for you. Consider whether a relative or friend who uses PayPal will accept your earnings, then forward them to you. We can send earnings to whatever email address you provide.

MCE Community Rules

It’s important to us that MCE is and always remains a safe, supportive, collaborative community for Muslim educators to share and discover new and better ways to teach catering to an Islamic pedagogy. Below is the code of conduct for using MCE whether you’re buying, selling, downloading free resources, or just browsing.

Be Islamic. Rule # 1 and the most important guideline is that you follow an Islamic Pedagogy. That means we have every right to forbid any material that is not conducive to this philosophy.

Be kind. Don’t use MCE in any way to harm, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or harass anyone.

Be respectful. Don’t use MCE to post content or anything else that contains material that is obscene, libelous, racially or ethnically disparaging, sexually explicit, derogatory, culturally insensitive, or otherwise offensive or objectionable. It is in our discretion to determine what is offensive or objectionable.

Be truthful. Don’t provide information or post content that is false, deceitful, misleading, or inaccurate. Don’t impersonate or attempt to impersonate someone else on our services. Don’t use a misleading email address or IP address or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise your location or the origin of information you’re providing to us or posting on MCE.

Make informed purchasing decisions. When you make a purchase on MCE, it’s your responsibility to review resource previews, read resource descriptions including software requirements, and use common sense when it comes to intellectual property concerns before making a purchase. Mistaken purchases may not be eligible for a refund.

Don’t spam. Don’t send or post content that constitutes unsolicited or unauthorized invitations, advertisements, or promotional materials through our services, or to members of our services whose contact information you’ve obtained through our services. The contact information of other members should only be used to fulfill purchases and deliver resources or other solicited materials or services. This section does not limit a Seller’s ability to purchase promotional space, use designated areas of their store page for promotional banners, or advertise on other platforms or services.

Don’t break the law. Don’t use MCE for any illegal or unauthorized purposes, such as to post content that is fraudulent, unlawful, or that violates the intellectual property, privacy, or any other other rights of someone else. It’s your responsibility to post only content that you have the right to post.

Respect the privacy of others. Don’t post content that includes the personal or private information, image, or likeness of someone else without their consent. Don’t use MCE to collect personal information about other community members, or use personal information that you may acquire about another member for commercial or unlawful purposes.

Don’t interfere with our Users. Don’t try to gain access to the account or computer of one of our users. Don’t post any content that contains viruses, malware, or other code or programs to interrupt, destroy, gain information from, or otherwise attack any computer system, software, hardware, or equipment.

Don’t interfere with our Services. Don’t attempt to gain unauthorized access to our computer systems or engage in any activity that disrupts, diminishes the quality, interferes with the performance, or impairs the functionality of our Services. Don’t use any automated means such as bots, spiders, or crawlers to download or otherwise obtain data from our services.

In essence, please be respectful, tell the truth, follow the law, and use common sense.

Seller Questions

What are MCE’s seller guidelines?

In addition to our community guidelines, these additional rules apply when you share and sell content on MCE:

Be Islamic. Rule # 1 and the most important guideline is that you follow an Islamic Pedagogy. That means we have every right to forbid any material that is not conducive to this philosophy.

Be a good community member. In addition to these Seller Guidelines, it’s important that you follow our general Community Guidelines.

Follow our content guidelines. MCE is a place where teachers share, buy, and sell educational materials and resources. These guidelines provides information on the types of resources that we currently support. Don’t post Resources that fall outside of these guidelines.

Set and honor your prices. How you price your resources is up to you. We do set a minimum price and you will not be able to price any Resources below the minimum price. The minimum price, listed on the resource upload page, may be changed from time-to-time. You must offer the full material advertised in your resource listing for the price listed, and you cannot require members to pay any additional fees to access your resource. You may not charge more on MCE for a resource that is offered for free or less elsewhere.

Be accurate and honest. The MCE community is built on trust. You should only sell resources that you’ve produced or designed yourself. Make sure your resource is complete and accurate. Don’t be misleading about what your resource is or includes. It’s your responsibility to ensure that the titles, descriptions, and other materials in your resources are truthful, accurate and free of mistakes and technical issues.

Maintain accessibility and fix technical issues. By offering resources for sale through our Services, you agree to provide undisrupted access to your resources to members who have purchased them. Each resource file you upload to our service must be complete, fully accessible, and in working condition at all times. This means, if any part of your resource content is hosted on another platform or relies on a third party service, you must maintain third party content at all times. You may not require the purchase of any additional software or equipment not listed as required in your resource description. You may not require the purchase, subscription, or registration of an account with any other websites or services to access your full resource.

Deliver on time. Upon notification that an order has been placed for a used or hard good resource, you must provide written acknowledgement of the order to the purchasing member within 48 hours of notification, and must ship the order, by the shipping method promised or by a faster shipping method, within seven calendar days of notification.

Respect intellectual property rights. Your resources must only contain material that you own the rights to (copyright, trademark, and other rights) or that you have the legal right to use commercially. When you upload a resource to our services, you represent and warrant to us and to members who may use your resource that you have the necessary rights to use all of the content you include in your resource, that neither MCE nor any member will have to obtain a license or pay royalties to any third parties, and that the intended use of your resource by MCE or a member will not infringe on anyone’s rights (including copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights, personality, publicity, or privacy rights). MCE has adopted a policy in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. We will remove resources that are identified in a valid legal notice as infringing, or that we have a good faith belief are infringing, and we’ll close the accounts of Sellers who repeatedly violate this rule.

Don’t direct Users to alternative sales channels. MCE should not be used as a way to drive traffic to another website. You may not include hyperlinks to alternative sales channels such as another online marketplace or e-commerce site where your resources can be purchased.

Follow our feedback guidelines. You can find them here. Don’t do anything that undermines the integrity of our feedback system. It’s important that feedback is honest, truthful, and authentic.

What is not hallal to post on MCE?

There are also a few things that aren’t appropriate for MCE.

Don’t post:

  • Non Islamic Resources and Material.
  • Infringing resources. Don’t post resources that aren’t your original authorship (your work has to be your own). For more about copyright,see section 3 and 4 of our Terms and services.
  • Resources requiring additional steps to gain access. All digital resources should be accessible and downloadable directly from MCE unless the file exceeds our 500 MB file limit. In that case, the downloadable resource may include a link to a third party hosting site. Buyers should not be required to give their email addresses or other personal information in order to gain access to digital purchases.
  • Resources directing buyers to another sales channel. Don’t post resources that link to other online retailers or e-commerce sites.
  • Non-educational goods. Products whose primary purpose is neither instructional, for classroom decor, or for resource creation (gifts, apparel, swag, marketing or promotional materials, ads, services and so on) aren’t allowed on MCE.
  • Duplicate Listings. Each resource can be listed only once on MCE. If you have co-created a resource with another Teacher-Author, you’ll have to decide which MCE store to list it in.
  • Resources for an inconsistent price. You’re welcome to offer your work in other online retail outlets and marketplaces, but it’s important that your MCE Buyers are not being charged a higher price or being charged for something that you’ve posted for free somewhere else.
  • Offensive content. Material that is discriminatory on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, sex, gender, disability, or orientation or material that is pornographic or obscene.

What kind of data can I view on the dashboard?

As a Seller you have access to your earnings information such as total sales, earning after MCE fees and general useage information like page views.

What kind of reports can I view on MCE?

If you are a Seller you can a number of different types of reports from your Reports Dashboard; such as Sales per day, Top Selling and Earning Products to name a few. Please visit your Reports Dashboard for a complete list of the available reports.

How do I add a product to my store?

Once you’ve established a Seller account, log in. Once logged in you will see a menu on the left hand side.

  1. Click on Products
  2. Click on Add new Product (Right side of the page).
  3. Enter product details, price and add pictures (provide as much details as possible).
  4. Click on Create Product

Congratulations! Your new product is ready for purchase.

What file types are supported on MCE?

How do I delete a product?

  1. Log in,
  2. Select Product
  3. Under the product’s name, you’ll see 3 options: EDIT | Delete | VIEW
  4. Select Detele
  5. In the confirmation window, click “OK”

Your product will no longer be available on the site. Buyers who have already purchased it will still have access to download the file. If you’d prefer to not delete the file permanently, you can also uncheck the “Active” box under Status in the Edit menu, and then “Update” to deactivate your product. The deactivated status means the product won’t be visible in your store, but you can edit or reactivate later if you like.

A product on MCE violates my copyright. What should I do?

All you have to do is contact us here and select Copyright Violation from the drop down. A designated copyright agent will review your claim and respond to you accordingly.
You’ll want to be sure to include all of the required pieces of information listed in the instructions here.

If your notice contains all of the appropriate information, then we will promptly remove or disable access to the infringing material. Also note that the same page includes information on what to do if any of your products are removed due to an alleged copyright infringement.

What if my product contains more than one file?

If you want to include more than one file in your product, you’ll need to ZIP it up: Put all of the files into one folder, then compress the folder into a single ZIP file. Then, upload this ZIP file as your product file.

What if my product is larger than the maximum limit?

Yes. We do allow Sellers to host files on third party sites if they exceed the maximum file size limit. Please also note that in the future we will provide a Premium Sellers account with greater size restrictions. But for now if you’re offering resources that are hosted on a third party site, remember that it’s your responsibility to ensure your customers can easily access the resources. MCE Support can’t troubleshoot resources that don’t live on our site, and we will issue refunds if buyers are unable to download their purchased resources from the third party site.

Remember: Buyers need to be able to access their purchased resources at any time, and retain access to these resources even if a Seller removes the resources from active listing.

Can MCE remove a comment or a rating left by a buyer?

MCE is an open marketplace, we encourage Buyers to leave feedback they feel is appropriate to the products they purchase.
MCE can delete comments that are:

  • Based on technical issues on the Buyer’s end (downloading, software issues etc.)
  • Abusive or contain inappropriate language
  • Spam (advertising other products, comments without any meaningful content, etc)

If the comment does not meet one of those criteria, we will have to let it stand. You can submit a request by contacting us here

Where can I find the statistics on my product?

If you are a Seller you can a number of different types of statustics from your Reports Dashboard; such as Sales per day, Top Selling and Earning Products to name a few. Please visit your Reports Dashboard for a complete list of the available reports.

Someone took or is using my store name. What should I do?

If you feel like someone is impersonating your store name or brand, please contact us. In cases where one Seller has a clear claim to an already established brand, we’ll reach out to the newer Seller and request a name change. If we’re unable to identify a clear claim, however, we’ll have to rely on Sellers to resolve the situation.

How do I refund a buyer?

A seller cannot initiate the refund process. Only the buyer can submit a request for a refund. Tell your buyer to request it via the Order details section on their dashboard.

Buyer Questions

I want to purchase a resource. How do I pay for it?

MCE accepts credit cards, Paypal and Stripe.
Once you’ve added the resources you want to purchase into your cart, click “View Cart” and then select “Checkout.” Upon checkout, you’ll be able to select the payment option of your choice and follow the instructions to complete your transaction.

Where can I find my purchases?

If you purchased digital resources on MCE, you’ll find them right on your My Orders page — they’ll stay there for as long as you keep your MCE account, and you’ll be able to download them from there as many times as you need.

Make sure you’re logged in to MCE, then use your mouse to hover over your name near the top of your screen. The menu will open and you can click on the link to My Orders Once you’re on My Orders, you’ll see a list of everything you’ve bought. Click “Download Now” to download the files you’ve purchased to your computer.

Can I receive a refund for resources purchased on MCE?

All sales are final and non-refundable since you cannot return digital resources. However, we understand that stuff happens and things don’t always go as planned. So we are offering refunds in a few limited circumstances. If your purchase falls into one of the exceptions listed below, you may be eligible for a refund. Refund requests must be submitted within one year of your purchase and are granted on a case-by-case basis.

  • Un Islamic – the material does not adhere to our strick Halal policy
  • Compromised Resource File – A resource file is damaged or is missing content. Example: A thumbnail or preview is uploaded as the resource itself.
  • Misrepresentation – A resource preview and/or description misrepresents what is actually contained in the resource. (Requests are subject to MCE review.) Example: A product description states there are 50 multiple choice questions in a resource but instead there are 50 true or false questions.
  • Technical Limitations — You are unable to access a resource because the technical requirements aren’t included in the resource description. Example: A resource is a Notebook file but this is not listed anywhere.
  • Duplicate Purchase — The same resource is purchased twice. Example: You purchase a resource contained in a specific bundle and then later purchase that bundle within one year of the original purchase.
  • File Download Status — You purchased a resource but never downloaded the file from your “My Purchases” page. (Verified by MCE). Example: You purchased a third grade resource over the summer (that you did not download) and find out you are teaching second grade next year.
  • If you are charged twice for 1 item
  • Billing errors/mistakes

If your purchase meets these guidelines, you can submit a refund request. As part of your request, be sure to include the resource name, your concerns about the resource, and any specific examples or details you might have. Screenshots welcome!

Can I contact a buyer or seller outside of MCE?

Protecting the privacy of our users is serious business. That’s why we don’t give out your personal information (email, phone number, address) to buyers or Sellers. Some Sellers post their email addresses on their store page or in their product descriptions, but we do not require them to do so.

We respect your privacy, and expect all our users to do the same. Sending unsolicited communications outside of MCE to other members of the community (by email, phone, or otherwise) is considered spamming, and is against our policies.

If you want to contact a buyer about a resource, you can contact them directly by going to their store. The Seller will receive your question via email and should get back to you shortly.

If you’ve got a question about a specific product in a Seller’s store, you can ask a question on the Products page. Keep in mind that these questions will be posted publicly.

Newsletter

Can I access the newsletter online?

No, the newsletter is exclusive to members only and we encourage you to join the community.

I missed a newsletter can I still access it?

The newsletters are sent to your email. So if it’s a matter if viewing previous newsletters all you have to do is search for it in your inbox. If you have missed a newsletter because you were not subscribed to receive it then its unfortunate but you cannot go back in history to access it.

How do I unsubscribe to the newsletter?

There is an option to unsubscribe at the bottom of every email.
